3 Things To Know Before Traveling Abroad This Summer

Happy new week my darlings… I know, I know, it has been a while but I’m back. Every now and then I like to take a little break from my social media duties and just enjoy life and family. This brings me to share that I finally traveled to Togo for a couple of weeks. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably caught a glimpse of it, but I have certainly been a bad blogger throughout this trip. I’ve had all intentions to blog, vlog and share everything in between but then I realized that I just needed time to take in the beautiful moments I was experiencing so my apologies. More trips are coming and I’ll be sure to share more…

#1 Get Your Ticket Now: The funny thing about this trip is I really wasn’t planning a trip but I just had to grab on of the juicy tickets out there. The advantages of traveling during Covid is that tickets can be relatively affordable especially with destinations that are always in demand. However considering that more people are getting vaccinated, this might chance soon.

#2 Get Vaccinated if possible: Another thing I was not planning on doing at the moment but I am proud to report that ya girl is fully vaccinated. I personally have been teleworking for over a year and did not feel the need to rush and get the vaccine. This is also why I really was not trying to travel but I saw an affordable ticket and wanted to visit my family so I went for it. I then realized that I needed to get vaccinated to feel comfortable so I decided to go ahead and get it done.

#3 Covid testing inbound and outbound: Let’s talk about the testing. It has to be done 72 hrs before the trip and will be presented before boarding. I got mine done at the neighborhood Walgreens and was sent the result in my email a couple of days later. Keep in mind that some countries may still administer the test upon arrival. For Togo, I was provided a website where I was able to pay for the test before leaving the US and also download an app to track results. After we arrived, the process was pretty easy. I only had to show my receipt  with QR code and got another Covid test which I also got the result a couple of days later. I basically went through the testing again 72 hrs before leaving Togo and got my result a day after which was pretty fast. The only difference was the fact that I did not have to do another test upon re-entering the US.

I hope this helps you and gives you a little peace of mind knowing that you can travel safe this summer and visit your loved ones. Continue to stay safe out there.
