If you’ve been feeling like this year went by really fast, just know that you’re not alone. This is more reason to maximize your time and crush your goals, however you cannot crush the goals that you never set, right?
I was originally going to title this post “career change advice”, but decided against it because I realized that I’d rather offer my perspective than shoveling potential unwanted advice down your throats, lol. I went with career goals because in less than 30 days, we’ll be entering the new year and looking to set up new goals in different areas in our lives wether it may be weight loss, career, or spirituality, etc.
As a person that is passionate about women improving their lives in all aspects, one of the areas I love to see fellow women prosper in is the professional realm. If you have been unhappy with your professional life, the good news is you can actually take steps to change it.
There are three factors I’ve identified that can prompt change in the professional setting:
Number one – Salary: I believe that being remunerated properly contributes to happiness in the workplace. I’ve heard a lot of people say: “choose a job that you love so much that you can even do it free and be happy”. This is true in some regards but if the work is not remunerated properly then it might be time to think of other options. Are there ways to move up or earn more doing the same work (switch companies)? Are there other options that can bring as much joy and bring in more income?
Number Two – The people: You might be the type that does not care much about the people you work with and that’s fine too. Personally I like to be independent in the work I do, but I like the interaction with people. If you work in a place where people are backstabbing and conniving, irrespective of how much you love the work, it can become very toxic.
Number Three – Professional Development: If you’re a boss babe and love nothing but to be able to set goals and crush it, then you have to be in an environment that foster that. Regardless of how happy you are in a job, or how much the job pays, it there are no opportunities to improve then after a while the stagnation will potentially bring unhappiness and lack of motivation.
This is not to say that you have to be in any of these categories to bring in change but the ones listed above can be part of the motive to bring in change. I hope 2019 brings in the changes you’d like to see in your professional journey and that you are setting realistic goals to crush career and money goals.
